Marty has lived in Park Ridge for over 45 years. He attended Franklin Elementary School and Lincoln Middle School before graduating from Maine South High School and attending the University of Iowa in Iowa City and graduating as a Hawkeye in 1994. Following school Marty returned to Park Ridge, married his wife Lauren (also a lifelong resident of Park Ridge), and together they have raised four children in this wonderful community.
Since then, Marty has worked in the information technology industry selling both software and services to Federal, State and Local Governments. Marty played soccer his whole life recreationally, as well as at Maine South. He has coached all of his children, has been a referee for many years, and has served as a Board member of Park Ridge Youth Soccer organization, which recenly celebrated over 40 years of providing recreational opportunities for Park Ridge children. In addition to volunteering with youth soccer and basketball, Marty has also been involved with Park Ridge Wilderness Scouts and Princesses, St. Paul of the Cross Church and in his spare time, he enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with his family. From May of 2003 through April of 2011, Marty served as a Park Ridge Park Board Commissioner.
During his eight years with the Park District, he realized the importance of intergovernmental cooperation and the impact of creative problem-solving among taxing bodies. When the City and Park District collaborated to move the water reservoir from the previous location to its current location at Hinkley Park this resulted in a savings of over $3,000,000 and it also enabled the City to lease out the unused Public Works Center and allowed for the redevelopment of the Uptown area to proceed. From 2011-2015 Marty served as both the Public Works Committee Chair and the City Council Liaison to the Park Ridge Youth Commission These two leadership roles allowed Marty a bird’s-eye view of the day-to-day operations of the City and also a unique presence with the youth leadership in town. Both roles have expanded Marty’s understanding of our City and deepened his knowledge and breadth of experience. Marty was appointed Acting Mayor in March 2015 following the sudden passing of Mayor David Schmidt.
Since Marty was appointed in 2015 and then elected in 2017 Marty and the City Council have worked fiercely to champion Park Ridge as a desirable destination for businesses, restaurants and retail shopping. We have cause to celebrate when our storefronts are not empty, our parking is managed and our citizens and shoppers are safe and happy and keeping their spending dollars in Park Ridge. Marty is excited to continue working for ongoing economic development, implementing sustainable practices that contribute positively to our envinronment, safe and modernized infrastructure, accountable City leadership and continuing the solid financial practices that have begun to pull Park Ridge back from the brink were the Uptown TIF placed the City.

The Maloneys feel that they have received much from Park Ridge and have worked to repay their community and work to make it better for future families.
